The Planting is a 45-minute ‘sound feature’ a long-form listening experience designed for a speaker orchestra performance. The Planting uses Kelly’s futuring methodology that imagines a more hopeful and just future, exploring the pragmatic steps needed to get there. These futuring steps were captured through interviews used in the work with First Nations and international activists. As a cinema feature is built from key elements, this sound feature integrates staged interviews, editing, real and abstract soundscapes, theatrical devices, and spatialised electroacoustic sound materials.
