Since the Capitol Theatre reopened in 2019, Darrin Verhagen and Ben Byrne have led experimentation with the audiovisual possibilities of its bespoke LED roof lighting system. Leading the Heightened Multisensory Experiences studio as part of the Bachelor of Design (Digital Media), they have facilitated the production and presentation of studio and other works for the facility. These works have been presented at multiple public events, including MESS Through the Roof in 2022, in collaboration with Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio and Melbourne Music Week.
