Avantwhatever is a forum for digital sound, art and design. Our programs include concerts, releases, festivals, browser-based works, residencies, workshops, and more, connecting online and offline. Founded in 2008 by Director Ben Byrne, Avantwhatever has published dozens of releases and organised many concerts and other events, including three biennial festivals supported by the Australia Council for the Arts. Recently, we have focused increasingly on online activities, developing avantwhatever.com as a venue and archive, a domain for experimentation, collaboration and creativity, as well as hosting server residencies, and a decentralised social media server.
